A very sunny occasion in Chester for this derby clash. Wrexham however, were quite sleepy for the first period. A lot of loose balls out and Northop Hall were unlucky to capitalise with some great saves by Olly Sowter. Wing play seemed to be the better options when Nathan Samuels dribbled past his man into the D and found a foot for the first short corner. Quick defenders did not allow Wrexham to pull a shot though and it broke for Northop Hall almost leading to a goal. The tense start was calmed near the end of the first half when legless Dan Thomas’ interplay with Jonny Miller on the left side gave Miller an opportunity to whip a quick ball onto the Penalty spot. And for Northop Hall an unfortunate deflection off the defender sent it onto the backboard. There were a few afters from Northop Hall keeper and Wrexham attackers that almost led to a card. Some pushing an argy bargy handbags, not like a derby!

Second half, and it was a quick start for the Dragons. Pushed through from the Captain Tom Czismadea at the back to Matt Whelan, who then found Harry Tourret on the turn. Tourret put a ball on a plate for Miller to caress into the corner of the goal. Some more argy bargy ensued and umpires gave final warnings to Whelan and Matt Lawrenson. Tourret on the left found a cross field pass to Damon Smith for him to clout a ball across the D that agonisingly flew past two of Wrexham’s attackers. On the pivot, Lawrenson gave a 1-2 to Thomas, chipped the ball gently into the D originally for Tourret but the speedy Lawrenson got in front to nutmeg the onrush keeper. There were a few more difficult moments for the umpires but Wrexham game managed well to keep Northop Hall out.
