Wrexham travelled to the Wirral in glorious sunshine for the eagerly awaited 1st match of the season,sadly with a much depleted team , only 10 players available for selection. On the positive, it proved a baptism of fire for the 3 very welcome new arrivals of the season, Grace Fell, Gemma Phelps and Bethan Taylor, who all coped admirably and had great debuts in Wrexham's white away kit.

The 1st half flew by, with Wrexham having to work hard to defend against repeated Bebington attacks and some wonderful saves from young Laila H saw Wrexham managing to hold the home team late into the 1st half. Credit to Wrexham's tireless work, they even managed to break out of defence at times with lovely passing play and skill, despite so many new players and others playing out of their usual positions, culminating in a fine pass from midfield by Bethan H to Tina B who cleverly earned Wrexham's 1st short corner of the game on the 35th minute of the 1st half. Captain Ffi stepped up to the 'D',an accurate feed from Beth H,saw a wonderful strike into the bottom right hand corner.

17 mins into 2nd half, Wrexham conceded a penalty flick after a goaline stop by Bethan H. Laila H saved the day with a great save from a high flick from the frustrated Bebington player. Good work up front from Evie on the wing, trying hard to create chances when able.
Minutes later, after lovely interplay between Abbie W and Tina B and the Bebington goalkeeper smothering the ball under her pads Wrexham earned another short corner but this time failed to convert.

Bebington broke through the tiring Wrexham defence 20 mins into the 2nd half to draw level. Wrexham battled on, with the game swinging from defence to attack,thrilling viewing for the spectators present.

With 5 minutes left of the 2nd half,Wrexham were truly under the kosh with Gemma B receiving a nasty injury to her right hand and Wrexham down to 9 players until the welcome final whistle.
A hard fought game and well deserved result.
