V Neston 4 s

Wrexham L2's first home game of the season proved to be a commanding victory over visitors Neston 4ths.
From the outset,Wrexham looked confident and showed dominance in open play,with the Neston keeper forced to make a number of good saves within the opening 5 minutes.Amy C linking well with Tina B and Ffi, concluding with a great shot from Poppy ,just veering wide.
The 7th minute saw Wrexham's opener,lovely collaboration between Gemma F and Tina ,then Amy again finding Poppy in the 'D' who finished beautifully with a reverse stick shot past the keeper,Poppy's 1st Wrexham goal!
Wrexham continued to pile on the pressure,the 10th minute saw a purposeful drive into the 'D' by Abbie W,who managed to dodge past 2 defenders before flicking towards goal forcing another good save from the busy Neston Number 1.
Some excellent passing play between Grace, Amy, Tina and Bethan was unlucky not to yield another goal.Wrexham looked assured from the solid defence to the lively midfield and the industrious forwards.20 minutes in saw Beth feeding into a short corner, Ffi firing into the keeper,the rebound gratefully collected by Abbie W who smashed it into the Neston goal,2 nil,also Abbie's debut goal for Wrexham.
22 mins gone and a strong run from Beth from deep in her own half culminated in a blistering cross in front of the keeper but no black shirts able to make contact.
The 2nd half continued to see Neston struggling to leave their own half.Wrexham unlucky not to go 3 nil up on the 45th minute after a decisive 1st time pass from Meg found Beth, only for an Amy volley to force another good save to thwart the attack.
The 3rd goal came in the 55th minute from a short corner piece.A goal line scramble ensued after a shot was saved,the young Abbie first to the ball to put away her 2nd of the game.
Wrexham's 4th in the 65th minute just reward for their dominance so far,Neston keeper blocking a shot from Abbie,only to find Ffi who finished deftly.
Goal number 5 came on the final whistle,typified by Wrexham's lovely hockey played today, busy Abbie again dribbled into the Neston final third before Miley skillfully found Captain Ffi who slammed it away into the goal.
Solid performances from the 2 young newcomers today ,Bethan and Harriet,who contributed well during their time on the pitch. Lauren coped admirably,despite being out of position in left back.
Wrexham travel to Denbigh next week in hope of maintaining this good run.
