Match Report for Wrexham women’s 2s V Northop Hall Development team
Late afternoon passback saw Wrexham Glyndwr Women’s 2nd team take on Northop development team after a 2 week break. Lively start from Wrexham,lovely work down the right from the outset from Gemma P, combining well with impressive debutant Sophie Forgrave, who showed great promise today,leading to a good save from the keeper on the Northop goal line.
The 13 th minute witnessed a quick break from Northop,a raised ball in the D striking Beth on the hip ,a Northop forward collecting the rebound and despite Gemma 's best efforts hit the Wrexham net. 0-1
15 minutes passed before the relieved Wrexham team were awarded a short corner. Accurate feed from skipper Ffi on the left to Phoebe, well controlled and fired into the keeper's pads ,Abbie picked up the rebound with her back to the Northop goal, managing to turn and strike into the left hand corner.1-1
Wrexham maintained the pressure well.Lovely reverse stick pass from Phoebe across the visitor's D was found by Gemma forcing another good save from their keeper.
Ffi's hard work was rewarded in the 27th minute with a great drive into the D and clean strike into the Blue's goal to give the home team the advantage. 2-1
Some great collaboration with the forwards,Mia,Gemma and Sophie looking dangerous throughout. 3 mins from the end of the 1st half saw Phoebe receiving a precise pass from Ffi in Northop's final third, driving into D but the keeper saving well again .
Just before the half time whistle, Wrexham's 2nd newcomer today Mia, worked hard to prise the ball from a Northop defender and struck home to give Wrexham their 3rd.
The 2nd half saw Wrexham start slowly, a short corner conceded after a quick Northop break but Gemma B, back in goal today ,fended off the danger with a lovely save.
Strong defence from Beth,Meg and a welcomed return of Alisha to the squad, led to the Northop attack repeatedly breaking down.Wrexham maintained dominance,great run from Poppy through the middle, finding Harriet,well placed again in the D,a clever lay off to Mia and the home team's 4th goal.
46 minutes gone and a further well earned Wrexham short corner, accurate feed in from Ffi to Phoebe,lovely slip to the left back to the injector ,deft pass to Beth and fired past the keeper.5-1.
The rampant Mia picking up her hattrick after skillful build up by Gemma and Sophie providing lovely pass for Mia to hit home. 6-1
This trio were also responsible for Wrexham's 7th goal ,Mia firing at Northop's keeper and the ball bouncing over their goalline,impressive 4 goal debut for Mia and a great result for a new look Wrexham team.
