Challenging game for the home sude

Match report
V Eirias Development
0-4
In this re-arranged home match Wrexham started with 9 players against Eirias Development team.
Wrexham attacked confidently making Eirias work hard. Eirias had to settle quickly on the water base pitch and were awarded a penalty corner but just couldn’t convert it. Both teams worked hard to build up their attack play but neither could get their shots on target. Eirias awarded another penalty corner. Great shot towards goal but Laila was well placed to save the shot and clear. Another penalty corner and the ball hit the post but went off for a hit out. Eirias continued to pressure the defence. A lifted shot at goal was amazingly saved by Laila. Wrexham had a great run down the right with Gemma Phelps using her pace. Passed the ball to Sophie Forgrave who brought it into the D and slipped the ball to Gemma Bagot whose shot just missed the goal.
Eirias played a great counter down the left driving the ball into the D and with a well worked pass managed to put it into the net to open the score in the 20th minute. Quickly Eirias scored a second goal in the 21st minute. Eirias were awarded another penalty corner which was defended well then yet another penalty corner which was saved by Laila. Eirias kept up a great spell of pressure giving Wrexham defence a great deal of defending but were up to the pressure.
The second half started and Eirias luckily scored their third goal. Wrexham were now up to 10 players when Becky Davies arrived after her work commitments. The weather began to turn with the wind giving Eirias an advantage as Wrexham were playing into the wind and sun. Wrexham had a great run down the right with a well placed floated ball from Beth Hughes to Sophie. She drove the ball into the D but the shot from Gemma Bagot just went wide.
With the extra player Wrexham gained more effective possession. They continued into the D but again the ball just went wide. Eirias countered again but Laila made another telling save. Eirias drove it down the right and managed to squeeze it passed Laila for their 4th goal.

It was a hard fought game in windy conditions with Eirias successfully taking their chances well winning 4-0.
