M1s 1-4 West Derby 2
Wrexham’s ones travelled through the stress of Liverpool to their first match of the new league against West Derby Hockey Club.
Starting strong, Wrexham came out the gate with a few great chances due to West Derby’s mistakes, but were unfortunately unable to capitalise on any of them fully. Wrexham gained a few shorts from Iwan Thomas playing the ball onto the feet of West Derby but were still unable to capitalise. Unfortunately, after the short, West Derby came through with a hard counter-attack, unfortunately gaining them a flick and a goal. After the flick, Wrexham pushed hard but were caught out on the counter-attack, unfortunately losing another two goals, making the score 3-0 at half-time.

After a thrilling team talk from captain Nathan, he didn’t say anything. We got ready and got back to the middle, ready for the start. Wrexham came out strong with West Derby just holding us back until a good cross from Nathan was tapped in by Iwan Thomas. After this lovely goal, West Derby unfortunately got a quick goal to make it 4-1 with eight minutes to go. We fought hard but were unfortunately unable to get back in it, making the score 4-1 at fulltime.
