The first game back after Christmas break for Wrexham was against top-of-the-league Winnington Park.
After a quick team talk in a tiny changing room, Wrexham took to the pitch raring to go with a strong line-up. Winnington were straight in with a few strong attacks but great defending from Shiv Henn, Claire Harvey, Li Preston, and saves from Meg Jones kept them away from the goal. Wrexham had a few attacks of their own with Emily Preston and Zoe Kershaw running up the wings and cutting off Winnington’s 16s.
However, Winnington had a lucky break and managed to sneak a goal into Wrexham’s net.

The second half was stronger from Wrexham with a few chances on goal by Laudie Royle and Delyth Hughes but to no avail.
A miscommunication in defence led to Winnington Park’s second goal.
Despite two penalty corners for Wrexham in the final 2 minutes, the score line stayed at 0-2 Winnington Park.
