A late game for Wrexham L1s this week against top of the league, Bowdon.
The game started off with strong play from both teams, with great defending from Claire Harvey, Raz Whittaker and Amy Jones but an unfortunate sneaky touch on the post led to Bowdon’s first goal.
A fast counter attack from Wrexham led to a great run from Laudie Royle, winning Wrexham a short corner. This led to Wrexham’s first goal with a quick rebound from Helen Roberts.
Continued excellent play from Wrexham’s defence with numerous short corners kept out of the goal by Meg Jones.
Half time: 2-1 Wrexham
The second half started strong for Wrexham, holding the possession with Bowdon playing a half court press.
Some good interceptions from Bowdon led to a scrappy goal from a rebound.
Wrexham held their ground with the whole team defending in Wrexham’s 23. Great marking from Helen Roberts and Ela Horsley restricted Bowdon from another few attempts but unfortunately Bowdon scored another team goal.
Wrexham had a few chances with Laudie Royle and Zoe Kershaw carrying the ball up the pitch but couldn’t quite get to Bowdon’s D.
However, within the last few seconds of the game, Bowdon snuck their final goal in from the post.
A good fight from Wrexham but an unfortunate loss.
