W1s 3-1 Oxton 1 (a)
The second game of the season took Wrexham L1s to Oxton.
The game started with some end to end action with both teams working into the opposing teams D. Oxton went one up with a straight strike from an attacking break.
Wrexham quickly retaliated with a quick reaction rebound off the keeper by Poppy Horsley setting the score to 1-1. Oxton had a few chances but were well defended by Rach Warrenger and Amy Jones in the central defence. Some great runs by Emily Swinswood and Laudie Royle saw Wrexham’s second goal with a classic Laudie Royle rocket shot.
Half time 2-1 to Wrexham.
The second half saw a change to Wrexham’s formation which led to some confusion and close calls from Oxton. Luckily, a third goal came from Rhi Robson’s skills from a long corner that got the ball into the D for a scrappy bit of play on the goal line with Gemma Phelps sealing the deal, bringing the score to 3-1.
Final score 3-1 to Wrexham
Overall a good game from Wrexham L1s.
